Building Skills

“Being at ECYH has given me the opportunities that i wanted and has helped me achieve the things i never thought i could.”
- Geoff

The project is involved in the renovation and refurbishment of empty properties and community buildings, achieved through working with young people from the local area (East Cleveland / North Yorkshire) to renovate these properties. The residential properties are then rented by young people in the local community who have the opportunity to live in affordable and high-quality homes.

The project also undertakes building works for community and voluntary organisations in the local area; such as renovating village halls and sports clubs.

During their time with the project, young people have the opportunity to learn and develop skills in various building trades, e.g. plumbing and joinery.

The project also offers opportunities for personal development in a supportive and friendly environment. Courses whilst on the project aim to build confidence and experience into the young people.

The project works with training providers to ensure that the young people have access to a wide variety of learning experiences.
