A little mouse keeping an eye on things. A find no-one knew existed.
This is one of Robert Thompson’s mice, the trade mark of his hand crafted oak furniture. Robert Thompson was born in 1876 and taught himself to use traditional tools to produce furniture based on the English styles of the 17th Century. His famous mouse symbol has an uncertain history. Robert Thompson himself says one of his craftsmen remarked that they ‘were all poor as church mice’. Robert then carved a mouse on the church screen he was working on. It is now a trade mark of quality and dedication to craftsmen ever since.
